Work-based learning is an educational strategy which provides students with hands on work experience. Students can apply the academic and technical skills they learned to develop their employability. Work-based learning opportunities allow students to stay engaged in their education and increase efficiency & productivity.
How does it work?
Employers provide students with hands on work experience, either in-person or virtual, to gain knowledge and prepare for work in specific industries such as retail, accounting, construction, IT and more. They can do this by providing internships, job shadowing opportunities, or the ability to serve on an advisory council.
Work-based learning consists of three parts: alignment, application, and support.
